Current Students:

One of the great joys of my career is working with students develop the skils they need to further their career and assist them in their future.  Below are current students working in the Engle Lab:

  • Kristina Sasser, M.S. Geophysics Student

Application of geophysical techniques can inform geological framework and fluid movement in the critical zone.  Kristina will be using a range of available tools, such a well logging and non-seismic surface geophysical methods at natural and agricultural dryland environments.

  • Christian Leach, Ph.D. Geological Sciences Student

Combined tools from isotope geochemistry and geochemical modeling allow for insight into movement and behavior of fluids in the critical zone. Christian will be leading multiple studies to better understand the complexities of water and water dynamics in dryland environments.

  • Rajesh Bhakta, Ph.D. Geological Sciences Student

A senior environmental engineer by trade, Rajesh has decided to develop new research approaches to better understand hydrologic processes at industrial sites in the Paso del Norte region.

Former Students:

Below are former students from my lab, who have gone on to wonderful next steps.

Dr. Molofsky researcedh the origin and controls on produced water chemistry in the Marcellus Shale and to apply geochemical tools to study deep fluid migration in geologic basins. She is working for GSI Environmental, Inc.

  • Lisa Molofsky, 2023, Ph.D. Geological Sciences

  • Nohemi Valenzuela, 2022, M.S. Geological Sciences

Nohemi applied ground penetrating radar and examined soil moisture to investigate the distribution and controls on pedogenic carbonate layers in dryland environments. She is currently pursuing a post-graduate internship.

  • Joshua Lewis, 2022, M.S. Geological Sciences

After studying  analytical methods to look for critical and valuable elements in oil and gas waste products, Joshua has moved on to the mining sector and is currently working as a mine geologist for Amblin Minerals.
